Quake 2We also have a lot of Quake 2 results from the old UKRA2L the WPQ2DML, WPQ2CTFL and the Savage 3tCTFL which are not listed here due to the fact that we just don't have them on record any more. We do have some random demos of those games.
Quake 2 was the highly anticipated sequel to id Software's revolutionary Quake. As with the first game, a technology demo was released prior to the commercial release, on October 19 1997, at an unannounced online IRC party. The demo contained the first set of levels from the single-player game, and contained no multiplayer support.
Quake 2's game engine was once again far ahead of anything else commercially available, and the full version of the game was released to the public in December 1997.
Quake 2 takes place in a science fiction environment. In the single-player game, the player is an unnamed marine taking part in 'Operation Alien Overlord', a desperate attempt to protect Earth from alien invasion by launching a counter-attack on the home planet of the hostile cybernetic Strogg civilization. Most of the other soldiers are captured or killed almost as soon as they enter the planet's atmosphere, so it falls upon the player to penetrate the Strogg capital city alone and ultimately to assassinate the Strogg leader, the Makron.
