| Clan Member! | Looks good. Will give it a go. I have been playing more bf2 than tf2 lately. This must offer something different or better than the battlefield franchise even though it looks similar.. THQ are a good developer from what little i know. Also good to hear from you Rob. | ||

| Clan Member! | After reading some previews and some reports from beta testers, ive pre-ordered the game today. If you go through our sites main page and click the banners for play.com they have a limited edition with poster and t-shirt and stuff for 25 pound free delivery. Its the same price everywhere so might as well get some free stuff and also if you order through the banner then Mark gets some cash too. Just hope its as good as people are saying. See you on the battlefield. Hopefully. | ||

| KABOOM! | Hello again everyone! Well, would you believe it, I've upgraded my PC and I also got my hands on a the orange box. Although it looks like folk are losing interest, I might be around for some clan games if you need inexperienced canon fodder. I haven't played it yet, so who knows if I'll be crap or not. I was thinking of downloading the Frontlines demo before I ordered it. In saying that, I thought the BF2142 demo was a bit iffy (at least on my PC), but when it came to the game it was ace. So I might just pre-order through one of the site's banner ads too. Anyway, I should be around tonight or tomorrow (depending on how long the updates take). | ||

| KABOOM! | My game arrived today too. I've played a bit of the single and multiplayer. First impressions: - Is it a BF killer? not sure... It's as fast and furious as BF, but maybe not as polished in gameplay terms. The problem with comparing anything to BF is that BF is the gold standard (in my opinion) and having played BF solidly for the last few years my impressions are probably biased against any newcomer. - Multiplay with a load of uncoordinated players isn't the place to really determine how it would play as a team/clan game. If played as a clan with some degree of planning etc it might be really good. I have yet to try out the squad commands/squad play, so I'm not sure how that works - some reviewers say it's really good. A squad leader acts as a spawn point like BF and there are similar commands. Oh, and there's no commander role...That's me out of a job. - It looks really nice. The street multiplayer level was impressive in its detail. - Vehicles seem good (mix of tanks, apcs, jeeps, helicopters, jets) and are easy to control/aim/shoot/etc. - Weapons are good (maybe not up to the BF standard, sound wise/ability to take out the enemy - they don't feel as solid). - You can choose from 5 classes (I think) and within each class you can "specialise" in either support(engineer)/drone tech/airstrike/emp. There are 3 "toys" for each of these catagories. For example, with drone tech (both sides) you start with the basic flying drone that you can denonate. As the western coalition you then get a motorized machine gun. Then finally you get a motorized mortar. As you play more on the level/server and gain points etc. the next one becomes available, until you have all 3 at your disposal. When one of your drones is destroyed, it takes a minute or so to recharge. - The airstrike specialty (including a single airstrike/clusterbombs/air fuel bombs) seems quite powerful, but I may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time that made me think it was too powerful. The artillery on BF could be brutal too. - I've played 2 different maps on multiplayer so far; solar farm and street. Solar is a huge (vehicle based) desert map, and street is close combat infantry map. Both maps look really good and obviously play very differently. - The idea of trying to compress the action into choke points before you can move on to the next is kind of similar to the assault lines in BF - although on BF you could choose any one to capture before you took the main base. With FFoW you have to advance in a series of steps. I kept trying to bypass the frontline and avoid the main assault from the enemy to attack undefended points, but that's too much BF for you... But within an organised team game with folk who know what they're doing, the FFoW gameplay style could be excellent. - March 11 is when the MP demo comes out according to this site, so that's not too long to wait to determine if it's worth a purchase. I'll add more impressions as I play some more. There aren't that may servers up at the moment, but I'm sure that'll change - especially when the MP demo comes out. ROB | ||
